FaderLux Polarised Viewing Glass - Pan Glass - Black / Blue

The FaderLux Viewing Glass is a multifunctional pan glass or gaffer's glass for DoPs, Gaffers, Film Electricians and First ADs.

It can be used for checking contrast settings, for lamp adjustment ,  for F Stop / ND calculation and calculating cloud - sun intervals.

Variable ND

The Viewing Glass´s density can be steplessly regulated by turning the knurled ring, so that you can freely choose the level of translucence. Engraved onto the outside of the fixed ring is a scale marked from 1.5 to 7, which indicates by how many Stops the light transmission is reduced.

Stop Index

You can read the current setting by using the mark on the knurled ring. The scale on the Viewing Glass corresponds to the ND scale as follows making it very easy to measure the required ND levels, i.e. for gels and filters. : 

• 1.5 = ND 0.3 - 0.45
• 2 = ND 0.6
• 3 = ND 0.9
• 4 = ND 1.2
• 5 = ND 1.5
• 6 = ND 1.8
• 7 = ND 2.1

UV Protection

Transmission of UV - radiation is reduced by the type of glasses used in the FaderLux. In addition the FaderLux has an integrated high quality multicoated UV filter. This offers extra eye protection when viewing cloud intervals.

The FaderLux Viewing Glass covers the UV range beyond 400 nm which amounts to 99% protection in the densest position. Even the most transparent position still provides 86% UV-protection.

Please note that indirect light rays might reach the eye from the side. The Viewing Glass is only meant to be used as required in our profession and not for prolonged sun observation.

52mm Thread

Any additional 52mm photographic filters can simply be screwed onto the FaderLux Viewing Glass. This allows you to add extra ND filters or colour filters for checking your light for green and blue screen, or for checking contrasts in black and white.
